Remember when you were a little girl (rack your brains, boys) and all you wanted in the entire world was for your dad to play dress up with you, while you listened to the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack and had tea with an entire table of Disney princesses? Unfortunately, for me that was never a reality, and it’s the same disappointing case for most little girls out there, too.

The truth is that fathers are very limited by what they can do with their little girls. It’s a rarity to see dads in a salon getting a mani/pedi, although I have had the pleasure of witnessing such a phenomenon first hand. For this very reason, I am so passionate and excited about the announcement of the 2014 Princess Ball.

The annual Princess Ball is a magical night which highlights the positive relationships between fathers and daughters. With guest appearances by the Orlando Magic Dancers, pageant queens (heyo!), horse-drawn carriages, and—my personal favorite— more than 35 of everyone’s favorite fairy tale characters, this ultimate daddy-daughter date is sure to be one a little girl will never forget. The Princess Ball is hosted by the A. Jones family Foundation, with proceeds benefitting Florida Hospital for Children, and it will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Rosen Shingle Creek.

This year I will be making an appearance as Miss Tampa Bay USA, as well as coordinating the appearances of a handful of other diverse pageant queens, and will be personally crowning each little princess with a tiara as she arrives. I can’t wait. I know how impactful this event would’ve been for me as a 7-year-old, and I hope it’s nothing but the most magical of nights for each and every attendee, princess or dad.

I should also mention that I plan on making rounds and chatting with all the Disney princesses, as well as Aladdin, once my job is done. I’m apparently still in single-digit age mode; don’t judge.

If you happen to live or know anyone in the Orlando area, be sure to pass this information along! Even if I weren’t volunteering, this is an event I wouldn’t want to miss. Also, if you know anyone who may want to donate a raffle item or sponsor a prize package, let me know! Again, all proceeds benefit Florida Hospital for Children. Additionally, the Guys with Ties gentlemen, as well as a handful of other volunteers, are dedicated “escorts” (no, not that kind, sickos) and will be the strapping young dates of some of the very patients the event is benefitting. We also have “military sponsors,” who pay the ticket fee for active and former military servicemen to enjoy the evening with their daughters at no cost.So basically, this is going to be the most amazing evening, and I can’t wait to be a part of it. What does your fantasy father-daughter date consist of? Which princess would you run to first?! I call Belle!
