Before leaving for Maine, Kyle and I hosted a pre-4th of July shindig, and these cute little mini smores kits kind of stole the show. Call me crazy, but I expected guests to say, “Aw, those are cute, you guys!”, snap some pictures, and then not actually touch or eat them. Wrong. They were a huge hit, especially among the adults, and I love that they’re so simple (and inexpensive!) to make. Now that we’re in the rudimentary stages of wedding planning, I really, really, really appreciate easy and/or cheap projects, so I wanted to share them with y’all in today’s post!
DIY Smores Kits
Here’s everything I used to make each mini smores kit:
- Galvanized mini metal bucket (like these)
- Red gingham paper liner (I used these sheets)
- Hershey’s milk chocolate bar (or any affordable chocolate bar)
- Kraft jumbo marshmallows (2-3 per homemade smores kit)
- Graham crackers (2-3 per homemade smores kit)
- Colored bamboo toothpick to skewer the marshmallows (I ordered this pack and then picked out the blue ones)
Definitely buy your chocolate bars in bulk if you can. Sam’s Club, Costco, and Amazon sell them in 36-packs, which is awesome. Also, these are obviously red, white, and blue-themed for summer, but you could easily grab different colored picks to match whatever holiday or event you’re hosting. You can also totally take off the wrappers, too. Just know you’re taking a gamble on whether or not they’ll melt all over your cute buckets or not!
Also, we don’t have a fire pit, so we used this article’s advice and made our own mini version. Guests loved it!
Super cute, right? As always, please let me know if you have any questions or comments about these mini smores kits. I’m happy to help! Also, sticking with the whole “mini” treat trend, check out these itty bitty cheeseburger appetizers if you haven’t already. They’re absolute delicious, Gram-friendly, and perfect for summer parties and tailgates!
Thanks so much for reading, y’all!

Omg, this is SUCH a cute idea. I need to pin it! I love s’mores, and this would be a really cute summer party favor. I like that you skewered the marshmallows too. Keeps it all together and looking nice.
They’re seriously so perfect for summer parties– our guests absolutely LOVED them! Thanks so much for sharing, lady! 🙂
Best,
Steph
So how do you make the S’Mores without an outdoor grill?
Hi Merrill!
This article has some great tips: https://www.today.com/home/how-create-mini-fire-pit-s-mores-t102959! You can also make them on the stove, as well. 🙂
