I’ve worn more split maxi dresses this summer than ever before. They’re literally the perfect vacation staple because they look polished and relatively dressy while still feeling like pajamas. Plus, maxi dresses with split hems can be easily tied up in the front with a tiny elastic (like these) to give your legs some extra air flow and help you not sweat to death. I wore this gray split hem maxi on repeat while we were up in Maine, and I’ve ordered it in 2 more colors since we’ve been back. I love that it’s got pockets, and I’m a big fan of its less-than-$30 price tag, too. For reference, I ordered an XS, and it’s a little roomy. Size down if you can!
It can actually get pretty chilly on the coast, so I loved having the opportunity to pair my gray maxi dress with this relaxed stretch denim jacket. The dress with denim jacet combo (particularly with the sleeves rolled up!) is a classic New England look, and I love how easily it transitions any outfit from summer to fall. Also, this stretch denim jacket is insanely flattering and comfy, which probably explains why it’s got over a 4.5-rating with 1,300+ reviews. For reference, I’m wearing a Small in the Weathered wash, and it fits perfectly. Head down to the bottom of this post for full outfit details!

We got back from Maine a little over 2 weeks ago, so looking through these pictures is bittersweet. We shot this outfit at Pemaquid Point, and ugh. I just miss Maine and its moderate, 70 degree weather so much. Stay tuned for a full trip (and proposal!) recap.
