I have a confession to make– I can’t french braid my own hair. I can french braid someone else’s hair masterfully, but not my own. My arms are too gangly and uncoordinated. I love a good easy side braid, though, especially in the fall. So,I stopped by my old Hair Cuttery salon last weekend, while I was down visiting my family and Ashley Brooke in Orlando. October is Healthy Hair Month, and I want to actively focus on keeping my hair happy and healthy all month long. Also, you probably already know that they cut and color hair, but you may not know that they’re amazing at blowouts and updo’s. When I say “they,” I specifically mean my stylist, whose name is Ashley, at the Winter Park location. I told her I wanted a simple braided hairstyle, and she busted out this fun Game of Thrones-inspired, easy side braid.
I watched her every step of the way, and this twisted side braid is actually pretty simple and quick. Since my hair is prone to humidity, Ashley added a few drops of Cibu Shine Squad Argan Oil to my clean, air-dried hair. Then she quickly curled my hair with a curling iron to give it extra volume. Once it was curled, she sprayed some Paul Mitchell Invisiblewear Orbit Hairspray over the curls to add texture and natural hold. Next, she separated my hair into two sections: a smaller section up front (right along my hairline) and a bigger section in the back. She french braided both sections separately, dividing the back french braid into two regular braids once it reached my neck. Then she combined all three braids into one mega braid. She called it a Game of Thrones hairstyle, and I fell in love with it even more.
Just in case you need another reason to visit a Hair Cuttery salon, October is Healthy Hair Month! In addition to taking your healthy hair supplements, think back to your last hair appointment. Was it over 6 or 8 weeks ago? If so, I’m not judging. Mine was over 6 months ago. Make an appointment before the month is over to A. pamper yourself, and B. take care of that gorgeous hair of yours. Plus, you can have them do this easy side braid while you’re there!
Plus, Hair Cuttery has a ton of awesome deals right now in honor of their Healthy Hair Event. For example, from October 3rd through October 30th, they’re offering $10 off the add-on of REDKEN’s (amazing) pH-Bonder to any color or lightening service. Also, guests can get $10 off a take-home hair care kit called REDKEN Color Extend Bonder Kit, which is a 3-step system that guests can purchase to continue the bond protection at home after your color service, with the purchase of any color service. Pretty sweet deal!
Oh, and I’m thrilled that I finally found a denim shirt dress that I love and that isn’t ridiculously pricey. This denim shirt dress is from Target, and it’s under $30. It also comes in a light was, too. I put this outfit together for a tailgating function, but it would work well for any casual fall occasion. Head to the bottom of this post for full outfit details!

Although I can create a mean head of heatless curls, I’ll leave the intricate french braids and chignons to the pros.
