I’m sharing #beyondordinary in my life as part of a Sahale Snacks® sponsored series for Socialstars™.

Happy November! I’ve always loved the F. Scott Fitzgerald quote, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.” I didn’t ever go into specific details, but this past summer wasn’t the easiest for me. I decided to take a few months off work to recover from what can only be described as physical exhaustion, so aside from spending some quality me time in Hawaii, I didn’t really have the energy to focus on new adventures. Now that I’m feeling more like myself, I’ve committed to making up ground and doing one new thing each day during the fall season. I’ve always been health-conscious, and to say that I’m out of shape right now is an understatement, so the majority of my new adventures will be related to setting new fitness goals and trying new aerobic activities.

On this particularly gorgeous fall afternoon, I went for a refreshing run through a new scenic nature trail in The Villages, FL. Armed with colorful Express compression leggings, my pink FitBit Flex, and a handful of delicious grab & go snacks, this was just the workout I needed to get back in the swing of things. It’s amazing what some fresh air and lush Florida scenery can do for your attitude. Full outfit details are linked at the bottom of this post!

Probably the worst thing about my current condition, which I’m happy to report is improving daily, is my unpredictable blood sugar. If I don’t eat at the right times, my blood sugar drops, and I’m susceptible to light-headedness and– my favorite— spontaneous fainting episodes. In case I need an emergency snack, I always carry around a few packs of Sahale Snacks Honey Almonds Glazed Mix in both my purse and workout bag.

Aside from the fact that their glazed mix tastes like protein-packed candy, I’m a loyal fan of Sahale Snacks because they’re a) committed to bringing a sense of adventure, discovery, and tastiness to every day snacking and b) their snacks are thoughtfully sourced. Sahale Snacks selects ingredients from around the world that not only taste amazing but also help them work to improve the environment and the lives of the suppliers they work with. It’s so refreshing to see a brand that cares just as much about the environment as they do about profits.

I would also like to point out that I’ve had my FitBit Flex for almost a year now, and I’ve never really used it to its fullest potential until now. You can download a mobile app that sets your daily step, sleep, nutrition, and fitness goals and then use the wristband to check your progress at any point throughout the day. Once you hit your targets, you get a fun, strangely satisfying notification from your FitBit Flex for instant gratification. I literally haven’t taken mine off since I started this new adventure kick; I’m obsessed.

I’m just reading your blog for the first time and I read your post about your health struggles. You are VERY brave to share everything. I love your style too- very cute! I hurt my back this summer and after an MRI we discovered I have degenerative disc disease (horrible! I’m only 29!) Anyways, I took off working out for the last several months but recently did a barre class and LOVED it! Low impact and a great workout. You should check it out.

Thank you so much, Tara! This made my day. I’m so sorry to hear about your disease, and I hope you’re feeling a bit better! I’ve heard from a few people that barre classes are phenomenal, so I’ll definitely check one out. Thank you for the suggestion!

Luckily we don’t have that problem in Florida! But I agree, treadmills are super convenient for all kinds of inclement weather (like rain, which is more realistically up FL’s alley).
