Pears don’t get enough love in my opinion. If you look, there are very few pear cocktails out there, which is a bummer because pears have such a uniquely sweet holiday flavor. So, I thought it’d be fun to share a simple green pear mimosa recipe in today’s post! It’s the perfect easy New Year’s cocktail and/or general holiday brunch cocktail, and it only calls for three ingredients– sparkling wine, real pear nectar, and elderflower liquor. Keep reading for the step-by-step pear mimosa cocktail recipe l. I’ve also included a video tutorial and nutritional information down below!

Easy New Year’s Cocktail: Green Pear Mimosas

I started serving these at New Year’s brunch a few years back, and they’ve been a hit ever since. This pear cocktail pairs (pun intended) amazingly with Hoppin’ John, too, which is a New Year’s brunch staple in our house and is said to bring luck in the new year.

Pear Cocktail Ingredients

I’m listing the ingredients below, but the pièce de résistance of this pear cocktail recipe is definitely pear nectar. Regular pear juice is just a little too diluted and doesn’t pack the same flavor punch. I personally love Goya’s pear nectar— it’s affordable and tastes amazing. It’s nearly impossible to find in stores now for some reason, though (I used to be able to find it at Walmart, Target, etc without a problem), so you may need to order it online. Just an FYI!

In my experience, volumes for champagne cocktails vary depending on the pour of sparkling wine and/or the glass or flute size, so I’m providing measurements in parts instead of ounces. For reference, though, 1 part traditionally equals 1 ounce when mixing drinks.

That said, here’s everything you need to make a pear mimosa cocktail–

  • 1 part pear nectar– I buy Goya’s pear nectar, but any pear nectar will do. It’s tough to find, though, so if you do see it in stores, stock up!
  • 3 parts sparkling wine– Any sparkling wine will work, but I actually prefer Cava for this pear cocktail. Segura Viudas and Freixenet are my favorites.
  • Splash of elderflower liquor– I highly recommend St. Germain! We buy it in large bottles (which are gorgeous, by the way) and add it to so many of our champagne cocktails.
  • Fresh green pears (for garnish)– Green pear slices make amazing holiday garnishes! I cut them long-ways and then short-ways (not sure if that makes sense– there’s a video down below if not!) and then spear three slices on a pretty pearl cocktail pick. It looks gorgeous and doubles as a delicious snack!

As far as cocktail glasses go, any flutes will work, but I love using champagne coupe glasses around the holidays. They just feel more fun and festive to me! Also, I use these pearl cocktail picks for the garnish. Not only are they adorable, they actually stay put on the coupe glass rims!

How to Make a Pear Mimosa

Making pear mimosas is pretty tough, so cut yourself some slack if it doesn’t work out the first few times. If you can’t tell, I’m totally kidding. All you need to do to make this easy New Year’s cocktail is fill a quarter of a champagne flute or coupe glass with pear nectar. Next, fill three-quarters of the glass with sparkling wine and then top it off with a generous splash of elderflower liquor, such as St. Germain.

Finally, use fresh green pear slices and a cocktail pick to create a fun garnish. Just a tip– if you’re prepping garnishes ahead of time, sprinkle your pear slices with lemon juice or this produce protector. It’ll keep them from browning.

Green Pear Mimosas

Yield: 1 cocktail
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes

Fresh green pear mimosas are the perfect easy New Year's cocktail! These fresh pear cocktails pair (pun intended) amazingly with Hoppin' John and other holiday brunch dishes, and the recipe only calls for three ingredients-- pear nectar, sparkling wine, and elderflower liquor!

Ingredients

  • 1 part pear nectar
  • 3 parts sparkling wine, such as Cava or Prosecco
  • Splash of elderflower liquor, such as St. Germain
  • Fresh green pear slices (for garnish)

Instructions

    1. Fill a quarter of a champagne flute or coupe glass with pear nectar. Next, fill three-quarters of the glass with sparkling wine and then top it off with a generous splash of elderflower liquor, such as St. Germain.
    2. Use fresh green pear slices and a cocktail pick to create a fun and festive holiday garnish.

Notes

For reference, when mixing standard-sized drinks, 1 part traditionally equals 1 ounce. The eyeball approach works particularly well on this pear cocktail, though.

It can be tough to find, but this easy New Year's cocktail needs pear nectar to be as flavorful as it's intended to be. Pear juice, even if it's 100%, just doesn't pack the same punch.

If you’re prepping garnishes ahead of time, sprinkle your pear slices with lemon juice or this produce protector. It’ll keep them from browning.
