So many of my holiday memories involve drinking coffee with my family by our Christmas tree. Now that I’m older, nothing enhances my tree gazing tradition like a fancy new cocktail. I found mü coffeehouse cocktails at Publix, and the Creamy Espresso Macchiato sounded too good to pass up. I mean, any ready-to-drink cocktail that blends coffee with liquor is automatically intriguing, right? Even though you can drink it technically straight out of the bottle, it’s a little strong, so I’ve been testing it out in different mu espresso macchiato cocktails. I’ve come across a few winners, but my favorite is a spiked peppermint espresso macchiato! Keep reading for the full recipe, including a printable recipe card!
Before jumping to the recipe, if espresso macchiatos aren’t your favorite, keep an eye out for more mu liquor varieties. I know there’s a mu Creamy Vanilla Latte, mu Creamy Coco Cappuccino, and mu Creamy Chocolate Chai at Publix, too. I haven’t personally tried any other flavors just yet, but they’re all on my shopping list!
Spiked Peppermint Espresso Macchiato
I won’t lie to you– this stuff’s strong. It’s 13.9% alcohol, so for lightweights like me, extra chasing can’t hurt. That’s how I came up with this peppermint espresso macchiato cocktail! It’s a sweeter spin on mu’s ready-to-drink flavored wine cocktail and the perfect holiday beverage for coffee lovers. I taste tested it on my older brother, who will forever be my biggest bartending critic, and he gave it his official thumbs up– that is, before he stole the remainder of the bottle from my fridge.
Anyways, here’s everything you need to make this mu espresso macchiato cocktail–
- 1 cup mu Espresso Macchiato
- 2-3 tablespoons peppermint syrup– I love Torani peppermint syrup, but if you don’t have any on hand, you can also make your own!
- Whipped cream
- Peppermint crunch bits– Either mash up some candy canes or buy the peppermint bits already crunched. I’m lazy, so I use these!
To prepare, combine the peppermint syrup and mu Creamy Espresso Macchiato in a short cocktail glass. Spray a liberal amount of whipped cream on top. Sprinkle with peppermint crunch bits for garnish. Serve immediately– and enjoy!
Spiked Peppermint Espresso Macchiato
Made with mu espresso macchiato, this festive drink combines coffee, cocktails, and Christmas all in one!
Ingredients
- cup mu Espresso Macchiato
- 2-3 tablespoons peppermint syrup
- Whipped cream
- Peppermint crunch bits, for garnish
Instructions
Mix the peppermint syrup and mu Creamy Espresso Macchiato in a cocktail glass. Stir.
Spray a generous amount of whipped cream on top. Sprinkle with peppermint crunch bits for garnish. Serve immediately!
Notes
If the drink is a little too strong, add in a few ice cubes. It helps keep the drink cool and waters it down a bit.

I’ll be serving this mu espresso macchiato cocktail at my family’s annual holiday soiree next weekend, and I’m optimistic that my “Best Cocktail Mixer” reputation will hold strong.
Also, I’m trying to avoid giving cliche gifts this Christmas, so I love finding creative and affordable substitutes for traditional gifts. That said, mu is a fun and fabulous alternative to gifting wine! You could also take it a step further and create a super cute cocktail kit by throwing some mu liquor, peppermint bits, and Torani syrup in a homemade gift basket!
If you’re wondering where to find mu liquor, it’s available at Publix and other retailers. These products are virtually brand new, so ask an associate if you can’t find them right away. In the meantime, though, be sure to check out mu‘s website for more espresso cocktail ideas. What yummy concoctions are you sipping on this holiday season?

I am a HUGE fan of peppermint mochas, so this cocktail is definitely on my list of things to try this season!
This drink sounds right up my alley! Definitely going to be keeping my eye out for this during my next shopping trip. Perfect for when all the little cousins are playing with their new presents on Christmas Day and the adults need some “playtime” too. haha xx Merisa | Monogrammed Magnolias
This sounds SO yummy! I’m going to check out my Publix tomorrow 🙂
