Though it may not feel like it weather-wise quite yet, fall is officially here. That means Halloween candy is filling up grocery store shelves, pumpkin spice everything is back in full swing, and new trends are just waiting to be added to your seasonal wardrobe. Whether you love a classic silhouette or can’t resist a pretty detail, this season’s offerings do not disappoint. Add these popular trends to your fall lineup for season-ready ensembles that are incredibly feminine, chic, and of-the-moment.
Fall Florals
It’s common knowledge that florals are huge for the spring and summer months. But bright blooms are also making a splash for fall, adding a romantic, colorful touch to a season that is usually filled with more neutral, subdued looks. Thanks to fashion’s current obsession with all things ’70s, free-spirited prints and silhouettes saw another resurgence on the Fall 2016 runways in the form of floor-grazing maxis featuring flowers of all shapes and sizes. Trending toward boho-chic, this season’s ethereal gowns proudly come with a polished edge, keeping them from looking too festival-focused.
Sequins and Shine
Metallic finishes and sparkly accents are no longer just for special occasions and holiday parties. If fall’s lineup is any indication, sequins and shine are poised to become a new favorite go-to this season. Even better, the eye-catching pieces are versatile enough for any setting (and anytime of the day). Rock a rose gold midi skirt with a simple turtleneck and bomber jacket (both of which are also trending for fall) for an unexpected contrast or a sequined top with cropped trousers and a blazer for an ensemble that is just as at home at the office as it during a night out with the girls.
The Flared Jean
Denim is a staple in any season, which means there’s never a bad time to update your jean collection. Thankfully, there is no shortage of fresh denim trends to choose from this fall, though the most versatile, flattering, and instantly chic style is by far the flared jean. Take a page from the current 70s-inspired fashion trend with a high-waisted flared style, then pair with a chunky heel, secretary blouse, and slim, thigh-length coat (when needed) for a retro look that’s equal parts elegant and feminine.
Romantic Ruffles
When it comes to fall’s ruffle trend, nothing is off limits. From socks to collars to the hems of dresses and skirts, this is one accent that can be found virtually everywhere this season. Fall’s ruffles run the gamut as far as design goes — from soft, flowing layers to styles with architectural shapes and everything in between, this season’s offerings are instantly flattering and standout effortlessly. For a subtle take on the trend, opt for a top that features a ruffled sleeve or collar and pair with your favorite pair of fitted jeans or a pencil skirt. If you live by the mantra “the more ruffles the better,” go all out with a dress that features cascading tiers of the romantic accent. No other accessories necessary.
The Wrap Top
If classic designs with a feminine twist are your thing, then fall has a trend for you. The silhouette-enhancing wrap top walks that fine line between classy and flirty, simple and chic, perfectly balancing a timeless shape with modern details. This is a blouse that flatters all figures and, even better, can take any outfit from casual to business in snap—making it the perfect double-duty piece to add to your wardrobe. To boost the ladylike feel of this trend, opt for a style that features uber-feminine design details, such as bell sleeves or the ruffles.
