Spring weddings are taking over just about everyone’s social calendar this year. As Diary of a Debutante, the most common FAQs I receive pertain to weddings, pageants, and black tie etiquette, so I figured I’d do a full post on my idea of the perfect spring wedding guest dress. Although I’ll admit I’ve done it a time or two, you don’t need to run to Rent the Runway every time you want to look good for a formal event on a budget. You can (and should) actually keep and re-wear the garments you invest it. As long as you’re not wearing a white, super short, or super tight dress (or even worse– a white super short, super tight dress), you’re abiding by the unwritten wedding guest dress code. Keep in mind, though, that circumstantial dress codes, like casual, themed (yay!), or black tie, are possibilities; however, they’ll be blatantly specified and advertised on the wedding invitation.
My idea of the perfect non-themed wedding guest dress is this blue vintage print dress, which retails for under $18 at SheInside. It’s sophisticated, not solid white, of appropriate length, and pairs well with virtually any colored accessories. The sleeveless shift silhouette, round neckline, and soft polyester fabric are incredibly flattering for both women with straight figures and women with fuller hips and/or larger busts. Plus, when the wedding is over, you can wear this dress anywhere– from work to happy hour to a hot, post-HH date. Versatility at its finest. Keep scrolling to the bottom of this post for full outfit details!
