Every package that ends up on a doorstep started from a wish, and UPSers work tirelessly to deliver everyday wishes throughout the holiday season and beyond. ‘Tis the season for peace on earth and good will towards men, so this year UPS wants to highlight the people and organizations who are dedicated to making their communities, countries, and the world a better place by “delivering wishes” in their own way. Keep an eye out for all the UPS #WishesDelivered posts this season, since they’ll be spotlighting individuals and organizations who genuinely deserve recognition, and start thinking about What’s your wish? for the world.

My personal wish– and not to sound like I’m quoting directly from “My Grown Up Holiday List”– is that everyone will feel like they’re enough this holiday season. They’re enough, and they’re worthy, regardless of income, sex, race, religion, weight, height, whatever. We all deserve to feel loved, and even the smallest act of selflessness can mean the world to someone who’s suffering silently. I’m speaking from experience, too, since despite plastering a perpetual smile on my face, I’ve been the girl suffering silently for the past few years. I came forward about my struggles with body dysmorphia and my 10+ year-long battle with both Anorexia and Bulimia earlier this year, and the support has been overwhelming. However, before anyone knew anything was wrong, even a simple “Good Morning!” text from a fair-weather friend made the difference between consuming 10 or 1000 calories in a given day. That’s why I’m taking the time to send all my loved ones a little something special this year– not just to show gratitude for their support, but to show how much they mean to me.

As simple or sappy as my wish story may be, UPS wants to spread the message! For each wish story shared with the hashtag #WishesDelivered, UPS will donate $1 to one of their charity partners (Boys & Girls Club of America, World Food Programme, Toys for Tots Literacy Program, The Salvation Army, or The UN Refugee Agency) up to $150,000! So literally, the more you share, the more good you do! Also, your wish could be featured on the #WishesDelivered Site by posting on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #WishesDelivered. You can also go directly to the #WishesDelivered site and submit it there. I encourage y’all to share your wishes on all your social media channels, too, since just one spark starts the fire.

This whole initiative is all about compassion and showing love for others, so please join in spreading holiday cheer by sharing your own heartfelt wish for the greater good– or sharing how someone you know is making wishes come true in their own communities. Remember– for every story posted to social media with hashtag #WishesDelivered, $1 will be donated to one of UPS’ charity partners. Happy wish making!
