Valentine’s Day can get awko and expensive if you don’t play your cards right. For all single ladies like me {now put your hands up} , it’s more important to avoid the awkward than the expensive, but still– cheap is always a bonus. If you’re in the market for some classic Valentine’s Day gift options, scroll to the bottom for ideas from my favorite source of all things seasonally frugal, the Valentine’s Day Magazine on The Good Stuff by Coupons.com.

However, if you’re looking for something a bit out of the ordinary, cute and clever pick-up lines with hilariously inventive gifts are guaranteed home run. Here are my favorite one liners for a assured and non-awkward Valentine’s Day success:

1. You’re pear-fect.

Fruit. It’s healthy and handy. I’m 99% sure Playtivities only created these for children, but YOLO. Grab something from your kitchen and print off or hand craft one of these adorable labels, and you’re officially the coolest Valentine ever in existence. Don’t ship fruit, though. That’s weird.

2. Blow me a kiss, Valentine.

Everyone loves gum balls! The only trick component of this gem is the clear cylindrical tube, but that’s what Hobby Lobby is for, right? Head over to Bloom Designs Online for the printables– and for other adorable {and edible} crafts.

3. You give me a heart attack.

Literally attack their door with construction paper hearts. My preschool class did this for me during Teacher Appreciation Week a few weeks ago, and I still have their little hand-written apples. It’s sweet, super easy, and a surefire way to ensure your coworkers, friends, and/or special someone remembers how thoughtful {and awesome} you are.

4. We’re mint 2B together.

I love these. So much. Even though I’m forever a fan of the orange Tic Tacs, although I’m still not sure what their purpose is (they’re not even mints!), the spearmint “We’re mint 2 B together” has got to be my favorite. Remind your Valentines how much they love and prefer Tic Tacs to the far inferior gum this February 14th with one of these adorable free Valentine’s downloads from Somewhat Simple.

5. You’re tops in my book.

The former preschool teacher and early childhood literacy advocate in me couldn’t resist these adorable bookmarks. What a fabulous and thrifty way to spread love and encourage literacy simultaneously. Hand make yours with inspiration from Thirsty Homemade Days.

6. I’m do-nuts over you.

Your donuts make me go nuts. You’ll be… without question… the coolest chick around if you hand out individual donuts in personalized Valentine’s Day boxes. You can download these adorable {and free} Valentine’s labels from Sugar and Charm. Spoiler Alert: This is what the lovely patrons of my office will be receiving this year. You’re WELCOME.

7. Are you Google? Cause you’ve got everything I’m searching for.

In case you haven’t caught on, I’m a huge nerd, and the dorkier the pick-up line, the more likely it is to work on me. I heard this from what looked like a high schooler, and even though it would’ve been wildly inappropriate, I almost kissed him on the cheek in exchange for the cleverness. Hilarious– and a wonderful excuse to make Google Plus cookies and hand them out to all your friends. Side Note: It doesn’t need to even be Valentine’s Day to exercise this option.

8. I long for your bottom.

I literally LOL-ed when I saw these. Print out one of these hilarious Harry Potter-themed cards on some cardstock and serve up some Butter Beer (aka delicious cream soda) or Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans (aka Jelly Bellies). Suggesting to watch Harry Potter in the middle of the day is also not only appropriate but warranted.

9. I love everything you Dew.

This one’s got my brothers written all over it. You’ll be the mom, sister, wife, girlfriend, etc. of the century when you stand handing out the Dew. Download these free tags from Darling Doodle Designs and accept your Woman of the Year award with grace and humility.

10. Here’s a dollar cuz you make me holla.

There aren’t, in my humble {and educated} opinion, very many redeeming qualities about the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo show. Paying people to be sedentary white trash isn’t something I’ll ever openly support… unless it’s Valentine’s Day. My favorite quote has got to be from Honey Boo Boo’s inaugural appearance on Toddlers & Tiaras– the famous “A dolla makes me holla, honey boo boo” line. Hand someone a dollar in the shape of a heart and deliver this classic one-liner. The worse looking the heart, the better. No need for formal origami training; in fact, that’s frowned upon. It’ll be money (pun intended).
And again, if any of these unconventional ideas aren’t your thing, fret not. Check out the fabulous Valentine’s Day Magazine on The Good Stuff by Coupons.com (below) for classic holiday inspiration. It’s got really awesome articles about aphrodisiac foods, date night ideas inspired by the movies (think Pretty Woman, Chocolate– all the classics), DIY Valentine’s tote bags, gift guides, and way more. Plus, there’s a link to enter the Coupons.com Share the Love Valentine’s Day Sweepstakes, where you can win daily cash prizes of $100 for you and a friend through February 28th.
