Fall is and will always be my favorite season; however, in Florida, aside from pumpkin patches opening up sporadically on tiny church properties, our autumn is really just a mild crossover from scorching hot to really hot. My BFF, S, moved to DC a little over a year ago, which gives me a recurring reason to see her and indulge in real fall weather simultaneously.
I landed in DC late on a Friday night– after the trip from hell, mind you (3 hour delay + weirdos at the bar + vomiting child next to me)— and since S and I share a deep affinity for this time of year, our first order of business post slumber was visiting the charming Cox Farms, where S’ fabulous mom and step dad had their first date, on the opening day of their fall festival.
Since I’ve switched back to my natural, ie brunette, roots, S and I are back to looking like sisters. I’ll have it no other way. Plus, this was the perfect time to debut my fall wardrobe (outfit details at bottom of post).
Why the heck doesn’t every fall festival offer complimentary homemade apple cider? The few farms in Greater Central Florida certainly don’t! Ah-mazing.
Did I mention there were apple cider donuts, too? Ya, those exist, and they’re ridiculous.
Mum fever, y’all.
How tall this fall? I’m 5’7″, you liars.
A festival wouldn’t be a true fall festival without adorable baby farm animals present. Hi, Piglets!
Sure, we play in children’s play areas. Sue us.
Oh, and we found the perfect Cox Farms pumpkins, too. Happy girls!

If it would only drop 10 degrees in Orlando, I really wouldn’t complain, and I really would stop knocking the Florida heat… regardless, I miss the gorgeous DC weather more than anything. Can’t wait to return in a few weeks!
Sorry to hear you had a rough flight getting to DC. Glad you had a great time once you got there.
Ya, the traveling nightmare had a happy ending! Thanks, girl!
I've gone apple picking this fall (an easy find in upstate NY) but I have yet to get my hands on cider donuts or go to a pumpkin patch! Your pictures are so pretty!

Thanks, girl! I (finally) am, too! It always takes me a while to readjust.
Looks like y'all had a blast on the farm!
