Shopswell, Money Saving Tips, Stephanie Ziajka, Diary of a Debutante Who loves Pinterest? Everyone. What’s even better than Pinterest? Shopswell. Shopswell has created an even more fun way to discover and share the products you love, just like Pinterest, while tracking their prices to maximize your savings. As a community of like-minded savers, you can follow members who like the same things you do, share your/their lists, and shop the absolute best deals. Plus, remember that extremely obnoxious feeling you get when you love something on your Pinterest feed, only to be disappointed when you’re not able to buy it or even follow a clickable link? It’s the worst, and Shopswell only features products currently available for sale at their exact price. It’s pretty much the best thing ever. Since Florida isn’t exactly experiencing fall temperatures yet, I’m anxiously awaiting the cooler weather before going on my annual plaid shopping spree. To prepare mentally (and financially), I created my first Little Plaid Family themed list on Shopswell to organize my obsessive plaid thoughts into one database. No, I don’t have a family; I just plan on buying enough plaid to clothe a household of 5+. Feel free to follow along if you’re in the market for an adorable new flannel wardrobe replete with crossbarred patterns for days.

Also, I’m a firm believer that you should know before you buy– because let’s be honest, online returns, especially clothing, are a pretty huge pain in the butt. You can read honest reviews, recommendations, and watch videos shared and created by fellow shoppers to further consider your purchases and make informed decisions before you buy. Also, you can earn rewards through their new Shop. Share. Win. program. Each month they’re giving $10,000 back to the Shopswell community based on credits earned for helping others– heyo! Here is information on how to make yourself eligible and boost your chances of being one of their winners. To scope out your present standings, check their current leaderboard, which is updated every 24 hours around midnight PST.

Last thing— Did you know that prices can drop up to 30% on an item in a single week? Aside from purely speculating when prices are anticipated to abate, a practice any actuary will tell you is fruitless since retailers do what they want, you can let Shopswell track all your prices automatically and alert you when it’s the prime time to buy. If you’re thinking about a smart phone or plasma TV, these savings can be quite substantial. Basically, you can get your own personal price stalker, and it’s pretty dang awesome/convenient/gratifying. They’ll also recommend other products you may like based on what categories most interest you, so you can browse online for things you didn’t know you needed.

I read about this on Shane’s blog this week! I think I must have misunderstood how it worked though, I completely didn’t realise about the price comparison side of it. It actually sounds really good!
