I’m not sure if I’ve ever said it out loud, but the two trends I most strongly dislike in today’s modern fashion are an overabundance of jean shorts (aka jorts), especially on dudes, and crop tops. I know some ladies can rock the socks off of a good crop top; I, with my awkwardly long torso, am just not one of them, regardless of the fact that flaunting a bare midriff still makes me think I’m going to get detention or something. However, in the name of patriotism and 4th of July fashion, I came to term with both of my former personal faux pas and said YES TO THE… jorts. I simply had to have these super comfy American flag shorts from Tipsy Elves, a brand known for making red, white, and certified bad-A patriotic apparel, as well as hilarious ugly Christmas sweaters.
To match the fun of my new low rise American flag shorts, I found this ruffled white crop top during a routine stop at Bloomingdales and figured I’d give this outfit a big American GO. Thanks to Heather from HBJ Photography for switching photography gears from gowns to jorts for my cheerful rendition of how I interpret the playfulness of 4th of July fashion– and for being a blast to shoot with, even in 100 degree weather. Full outfit details at the bottom of this post.
Can I just mention how much I adore this acrylic state necklace? Moon & Lola makes them in for state in about a zillion different colors, and you can actually request a heart or star over your hometown. Mine has a heart right where Orlando would be. How presh.
