Peppermint no-bake Oreo truffles recipe by blogger Stephanie Ziajka on Diary of a Debutante

As much as I love it, baking is not my forte. After having set off one too many fire alarms (not a joke– this happened several times when we lived in Maine), I’m really only willing to attempt recipes that are marked as easy and don’t require the use of an oven. My best friend Ashley Brooke taught me how to make no-bake Oreo truffles before her Bridal Shower a few years ago, and ever since, they’ve been a year-round favorite of mine! So, I adapted a similar recipe from Handle the Heat and came up with these peppermint no-bake Oreo truffles! Anybody (and I mean anybody) can successfully make this easy holiday dessert, and I personally guarantee that you and your dinner guests will be amazed at how mouth-wateringly delicious they are.

  • 3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract

Jumping right in– to start, dump the Oreo cookies in the bag and pound until finely ground. I normally use a can of beans or something, but any sturdy kitchen utensil will do. This step is particularly fun for kids and any adults who need to let a little aggression out.

Next, combine the ground Oreo cookies with 8 ounces of cream cheese and 3/4 teaspoon of peppermint extract in a food processor. Pulse until smooth.

Line a baking sheet with wax paper or aluminum foil. Scoop the mixture into balls about 1-inch in diameter and place Oreo balls on the baking sheet. Let the Oreo balls chill in the refrigerator for a minimum of 1 hour and a maximum of 24 hours.

Once the Oreo balls are chilled, melt vanilla almond bark and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil on the stove over VERY LOW heat. Stir frequently, and do not overheat. If the chocolate gets too hot, it’ll either burn or crystalize, and you’ll need to start over.

As the almond bark starts to melt, drop each Oreo ball into melted chocolate and coat evenly. Remove with a spoon or fork and gently tap off excess chocolate. Place back on the cookie sheet.

Immediately sprinkle with peppermint crunch while the chocolate is still wet. Repeat for all Oreo balls.

Also, just a tip– if you’re looking to give some White Peppermint Oreo Truffles to your coworkers or neighbors as a holiday gift, wrap them in wax paper and pick up some cute holiday tins or treat bags from Walmart or Dollar Tree!
