For the first time ever, Pantone introduces two shades, Rose Quartz and Serenity, as the PANTONE Color(s) of the Year for 2016. Why? According to the Pantone website, “In many parts of the world, we are experiencing a gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity, the consumer’s increased comfort with using color as a form of expression, a generation that has less concern about being typecast or judged and an open exchange of digital information that has opened our eyes to different approaches to color usage.” Beautiful. I’ve never cared to understand the reasoning behind Pantone’s selection process, but I’m 100% on board with their choice to blend these two gorgeous shades.

I’ve always been fond of rose quartz, especially as a gemstone, so I’ve rounded up a handful of my favorite rose quartz accessories as a welcome gesture for half of 2016’s official hue. I’ll be posting a handful of my favorite serenity accessories next week, as well.

This color is so pretty. I love that it’s being used as almost a neutral, and that it’s not so bubblegum girlie. I especially like the Kate Spade sunglasses and bookends above. 🙂
