As much as I love spring and summer in Florida, I can’t lie about how detrimental the heat and humidity can be on my thick Italian hair. The voluminous romantic wave style is hands down my favorite look for the next two seasons; however, I rely wholeheartedly on quality products in order to keep my curls and styling in tact. I’m also not the type of girl who spends hundreds of dollars on her hair– I’d rather spend that on a trip to somewhere tropical– so I use TRESemmé religiously these days.
TRESemmé was actually the official hair care sponsor of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week this year, and a handful of their fabulous hair shows during MBFW used the Perfectly (Un)Done collection to prep and style their models. Naturally, this inspired me to incorporate their new Perfectly (Un)Done line into this long-lasting romantic look. Here are the products I used in this tutorial: TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Shampoo, TRESemmé Perfectly (Un)Done Conditioner, TRESemmé Max the Volume Lightweight Moisturizing Lotion, TRESemmé Max the Volume Root Lifting Cream, and TRESemmé Youth Boost Voluminous Hold Hairspray.
Start by washing and conditioning your hair with TRESemmé’s Perfectly (Un)Done Shampoo and Conditioner.
Once you’ve got fresh cleaned hair, it’s time to add lift and volume with TRESemmé Max the Volume Lightweight Moisturizing Lotion and Root Lifting Cream.
Start by dispensing a dime-sized amount of the moisturizing lotion into your hands and distribute evenly through your wet hair.
Next, massage a generous amount of the lifting cream into your roots. Any product left on your hands can be used to add texture to the rest of your hair.
Blow dry your hair up and away from your face with a round brush. This strategy helps ensure you get the most of your volume potential.
Section of your hair into 3 layers and use a curling wand to create your romantic waves. Since I’m not a fan of curly tendrils, I take about a two inch section of hair and hold it against the wand for about 15 seconds.
If you hair isn’t holding enough of a curl, brush it out and wand it again. I used this strategy repeatedly for summertime pageant appearances, and I can tell you from experience that double-wanded hair makes for some amazing long-lasting gorgeousness. If your hair is looking too Shirley Temple, apply a little bit more TRESemmé Max the Volume Moisturizing Lotion to your fingers and break apart the curls.
Lastly, secure your romantic waves in place with a light burst of TRESemmé Youth Boost Voluminous Hold Hairspray.
These romantic curls can literally last you days without losing their volume. From spring soirees to late nights on the beach, you’ll be good to go.

Thanks, Freya!
Perfection as always! I'm really loving the dark hair again! I wish I could get my hair to do this…. As thick and coarse as it is, it just won't hold a curl.
xoxo,
Meghan
You're so sweet. I'm finally getting used to it! And TRUST ME, my hair is the definition of thick and course… give these products a try!

Thank so much, love!
I love you as a brunette and your hair is gorgeous. Is your hair curly or wavy naturally?
You're my favorite, Sheila 🙂 Thank you! It's naturally wavy, but ugly waves… not those pretty beach waves many women are privy to.
