I’ve never been a fan or a follower of the “don’t wear white after Labor Day” rule, and I don’t intend on abiding by it anytime soon. To be fair, Floridians really only have to dress for two seasons, which include a 362(ish)-day summer and a 3-(or 4 if it’s a leap year) winter, so our spectrum of fashion trends is reasonably skewed. When you have the opportunity to dress in cute blanket scarves and coats for the crisp fall weather amidst colorful fallen leaves, you don’t need to wear white. Floridians (and actually Hawaiians, too) do, since we’re still enduring 90 degree weather with a heck of a lot of humidity.

This year’s Labor Day outfit, which was shot in gorgeous Kailua-Kona, Hawaii by Karen Loudon Photography, is simple, beachy, and a tad patriotic. I’ve recently started pairing pretty much everything with white pants (climate willing), since they’re a such a chameleon staple piece. This fancy red and white blouse from Pink Blush Boutique is casual yet sophisticated, and it can be easily paired with white skinny jeans for a playdate (like so), dressy black pants, or tucked into a pencil skirt for work. Versatility always wins! Scroll down to the bottom for full Labor Day outfit details. Happy early holiday weekend!

Just looking at these pictures makes me want to book my next vacation STAT. Hawaii, why do you have to be so gosh darn beautiful? And why do you have to be 14+ hours away with a ridiculous 8-hour time difference? Why, why, WHY? Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

Love your outfit and that hat and I agree completely with your stance on white. I’m thinking that the term “winter whites” was invented by us poor souls who have to suffer through more seasons…
