When you’re asked to judge a national pageant, it’s hard to be critical of hair, makeup, or outfits when your hair, makeup, and outfit look frumpy. This expectation, at least in my mind, creates an enhanced standard for displaying tasteful and unique fashion and accessorizing. For the interview portion of the US Continental Pageant last Friday, I went back and forth between an all-black-professional business dress for intimidation and a bright-and-sunny colorblock chiffon dress for approachability. Anyone who knows me knows I don’t have an intimidating bone in my body, so I went with the PinkBlush fuchsia, navy, and white colorblock chiffon dress.
I think my approach worked fairly well, since I was able to have nice chats with almost everyone. One of the contestants even thanked me for being so easy to talk to, which was without a doubt the highlight of my judging experience. Happy {almost} weekend!
I love the dress and bag!!!!!
God this is sooo classy
That dress is so sweet!
I actually came to comment on something else though. I read somewhere about your affiliations with eating disorder related causes (awareness, nonprofits, etc) and had to say “bravo!”
In a world where so many bloggers are photoshopping themselves into oblivion, it’s refreshing.
I work at an eating disorder clinic and the cause holds a special place in my heart (for reasons I can’t readily disclose). So thank you!
And never forget to take care of yourself first.
