Did y’all know the first corporate Lilly Pulitzer store was opened in Key West? I wish I could pretend like I knew that particular tidbit of history beforehand, but it in no way influenced me to virtually pack only slight variations of the Lilly Pulitzer shift dress in preparation for my long weekend at The Gates. Why? Because Lilly epitomizes the aura of The Keys. Her designs are bright, fun, and easily transformable– and appropriate– from daytime to nighttime, so you don’t have to worry about packing double the clothes for different times of the day.
We were fortunate enough to get a history lesson from the Lilly Pulitzer Key West team, and even though I’m partial towards the new Lilly Pulitzer Mall at Millenia location, this was one of the most adorable store layouts I’ve ever seen. They’ve got cabana-style dressing rooms at all corners of the store, in addition to regular dressing rooms decorated with hand-painted artwork, as all Lilly stores do. Full outfit details are at the very bottom of this post. Photography by the coolest Key West photog around, Mike from Foto by Freas!
