Nothing makes me endorse large brands more adamantly than seeing them take vested interests in worthwhile causes. I’ve been an advocate for early childhood literacy since I stepped foot in my first preschool classroom at Genesis Christian Preschool some 6 years ago, and that passion has only grown stronger over the years. I adopted Hooked on Books: Promoting Early Childhood Literacy as my official Miss America platform in 2011, and since my graduation–euphemism for aging out–from their charity-oriented system, I felt compelled to continue developing the organization and spreading its message.
