I’ve been getting into a lot more DIY projects lately, and I kinda love it. Especially when it comes to beauty products, there’s so much value in knowing exactly what you’re putting on your skin. I’ve been making my own rose water for a while now, but I never built up the courage to tackle a sugar scrubs. I envisioned a scientist mixing chemicals in a lab somewhere. Wrong, wrong wrong! DIY sugar scrubs are freakishly easy! Not only are they great for your skin, but they make incredible homemade gifts, too. After I watching this video from PopSugar Beauty, I decided to finally take the plunge, and I think I may have created a monster. I don’t know if I’ll ever pay for a body scrub again. This DIY rose sugar scrub takes less than 5 minutes to make, and it smells and feels heavenly. Keep reading for a full tutorial!

All you need for this DIY sugar scrub recipe is 1 cup of white sugar, 1/2 cup of coconut oil, 1 1/2-2 cups of fresh rose petals (equivalent to the petals of two roses), 10-15 drops of non-irritating rose essential oil, and an airtight container, like a pint-sized mason jar or canister. That’s really it, y’all!

DIY Rose Sugar Scrub

As far as beauty benefits go, this DIY rose sugar scrub is loaded. Rose essential oil has emollient properties for moisturizing dry skin, reducing redness and inflammation, and refining skin texture, among other benefits. Coconut oil is known for being one of the healthiest foods (and anti-aging miracles) on the planet. It’s also famous for moisturizing and soothing dry skin, eliminating dandruff, and literally dozens of other beauty benefits. The sugar gently exfoliates, and the fresh rose petals add the prettiest pop of pink!

To make your own DIY rose sugar scrub, combine the 1 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of coconut oil, and 1 1/2-2 cups of fresh rose petals in a food processor. Pulse until blended. If the mixture is looking a bit dry, add an extra tablespoon of coconut oil. 

Add in 10-15 drops of rose essential oil. Stir. Seriously, how pretty is that, y’all?!
