My favorite season of the year is finally here! Now, in Florida we don’t exactly see a drastic change in the weather, or any change in the color of our leaves for that matter– boo, until mid-November, but I still love everything about the fall lifestyle… from football to pumpkins to the transition into the holiday season. Just as the ever-so-brilliant F. Scott Fitzgerald described, it’s as if fall marks the beginning of a new chapter, the turning of a new leaf, and the opportunity for growth. It’s refreshing and invigorating. Plus, all the best shows are in the autumn lineup, duh.
Because I sincerely adore this season, it’s imperative that I make the most out of the 90-some day period. Ergo, I’ve broken down the essential elements to the perfect Fall playtime.
I am the ultimate Yankee Candle advocate, but the Bath and Body Works 3-wick new Pumpkin Collection candles are to die for. The large jars are $20 each, assuming there are no discounts available, and they last for weeks. Pumpkin Cupcake is my favorite, but Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin and Pumpkin Caramel Latte are a close second and third. Yesterday, I went on a spending rampage in B&BW and ended up with 6 candles– They were on sale for $11 each; I’m not ashamed.
1. Skirting the Issue | 2. Stylenomics | 3. After School Boy Blazer | 4. Cashmere Bathrobe
Isn’t it nuts that the right nail polish can feel like a bold fashion statement? Dark-toned lacquers, which in my opinion are borderline inappropriate during all other seasons, can spruce up any scarf, boot, and flannel ensemble.
Oh, and don’t get me wrong… I have a wide variety of nail polishes from dozens of brands, but even OPI doesn’t come close to the ease of application, chip-free formula, and adorable seasonal collections of Essie. Plus, they range from $6-8 each, which doesn’t exactly break the bank. Here are my go-to Fall colors, 1//2 being from prior years and 3//4 being from the 2013 Fall Collection.
1. Flannel // 2. Scarves // 3. Denim // 4. Over-sized sweaters // 5. Blazers // 6. Colored skinny jeans // 7. Neutral tones // 8. Boots
I realize almost all of these outfits look identical with different backgrounds. Basically, these 8 Fall Classics make up my wardrobe for the next 3 months. My favorite characteristic of this lovely season’s style is that it’s relaxed and uber comfortable. Hello, leggings and over-sized tops. I’ve missed you.
1. Football and/or other sports– ’tis the season for God, sweet tea, and the SEC. Put it on as background noise at any soiree, and you’ll have a handful of happy//preoccupied boys.
2. Hocus Pocus, aka the best Halloween movie ever made in cinematic history
3. The omnipotent Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. This usually comes in handy as a pre-party picker-upper.
4. “Goblin Mimosas,” which are basically regular mimosas… which are basically the best drink ever.
5. Candy corn. I wish I had an aversion to this stuff… I eat it by the handful. Plus, candy corn rice crispie treats are one of the best (and only) things I can make.
That just about much sums up my Autumn essentials! What did I miss? Who else is overjoyed about the recent change of season?! Oh, and Happy Hump Day! Have a great rest of the week!
This is a fantastic list. I can't even pick one part to mention because I'm just with you on all of it. The clothes, the nail polish, the candles. It's all great.
I'm so glad! I had the hardest time writing this post because it very well could've been 10x longer. Had to choose the essentials… tough stuff! Have a great weekend 🙂
This is the best list I have come across so far! I seriously couldn't agree more with all of the items listed, and I LOVE them all!! Fall is such a wonderful time of year 😀

I love fall! It is a shame that we don't get much of it in Florida, but at least soon we will get a mini taste of the crisp air!

I know 🙁 I still love the slight 10 degree shift in weather, though. I'll take what I can get! Hope you have a fabulous weekend, pretty lady!
Hi Stephanie! I'm following you now on FB and G+! I love everything candle related!!! as a matter of fact I spend a lot of $$$ buying them…lol…the slatkin ones from Bath & BWs are the best! I love Pumpkin Cupcake! Thanks for sharing this Fall's trends. Lizy
So glad to meet another B&BW candle enthusiast!!! Aren't they just the best?! Hope you're having a great weekend, Lizy!
I live in California so we have a belated autumn also but that doesn't stop me from loving it like crazy! I visited you from SITSSharefest & its always a joy to find a fellow pumpkin enthusiast. Brava!
Well I'm glad to know I'm not alone 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Julie! Happy Sunday!
You can keep the candy corn and football. I'll replace it with hockey and chocolate. =) I definitely agree Hocus Pocus is one of the best Halloween movies ever made. I watch it every year. And pumpkin spice lattes? Bring. It. On. Now I want one. Dangit. Naturally though it's 80 some odd degrees outside here in Vegas as I write this comment. *sigh* Come on cooler temps!
I'm right there with ya, Kim… it was 95 yesterday! Get with the seasons, NV and FL! Happy Sunday 🙂
we're in ct so we get all of the color changes. it literally takes my breath away at peak foliage. fall's my fave too!! and yay for boots !!
You're so lucky!! I'm jealous. Post pictures so unfortunate FL residents can see what we're missing! 🙂
I love the Bath and Body Works candles! I must have the pumpkin cupcake one! Fall is my favorite time of the year. The scents, the colors, all of it is just the best!
It really is!!! I highly recommend Pumpkin Cupcake… I literally haven't stopped burning it since I bought it!
Oh how I love fall and all things about it. I love the beautiful foilage along with the clothes, scents, you name it I love it!! Love this post!
That makes two of us! Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend!
Ahh that pumpkin caramel latte candle needs to be mineee! Sounds incredible.
$11 at Bath and Body Works!!! Ah-mazing!
Totally agree with everything… I love, love, love fall… We moved to the mid-west about four years ago and the FALL is one thing that I miss so much. That time that we can wear jeans, boots, and a light tee shirt is the best time of year! Plus the scents of fall… ahhhh!
I couldn't agree more! It's just the best! Even though you and I miss out on the leaves and temperature changes, at least we don't completely freeze to death in the winter! 🙂 Hope you had a great weekend!
I missed this post last week, sorry. Do you ever travel to see the changing of the leaves? I adore candles also but I have been banned from using them because I left one on for 8 hours. My hubby returned home to a house filled with a burning smell. Luckily, the glass didn't shatter because the house would have surely caught on fire. 🙁
I am this year actually! I'm so excited to be heading to DC at the end of October 🙂 and oh no!! I don't know what I'd do if I were banned from burning candles… I'm a crazy candle lady for sure. Glad nothing bad happened, by the way!
Stephanie, you're so right! That After School Boy Blazer is gorgeous!! I'm also digging how you included all your fall stuff in a single post! Great idea!
Thanks for linking up for the blog hop, I'm so glad you commented on my blog so that I could find yours because I'm already obsessed! Especially with this post….I love fall! And Hocus Pocus is pretty much the best movie in the world. Just sayin.
I'm actually in love with those flannels…these are all great picks btw!
