You can empathize, right? Well, Babe Walker probably can’t (even though this is a chapter title in her book…) because she’s a narcissistic//borderline sociopathic urban socialite from California with a knack for writing hilarious memoirs.

I saw “White Girl Problems” by Babe Walker in Target one afternoon and immediately gave it a cursory glance, since the title alone calls to me. As I read through the chapter title list, I knew this was a crucial piece of “white girl” literature. Essentially, Babe’s painstaking obstacles have landed her in shopping rehab– that’s what happens when you spend $246,893.50 in one afternoon at Barney’s– and she’s decided to appease her super annoying//stringy-haired psychiatrist’s allegations of her mental unclarity with a list of the many agonizing hurdles she’s faced during her lifetime.

My personal favorite chapters, aside from the aforementioned Problem #6, are as follows:
1) “All I want for my birthday is for you to know what I want for my birthday without me having to tell you.” 2) “Sorry for texting you ninety-three times last night.” 3) “It’s 5:15. How much weight can I lose by 8:00?” If those aren’t your core white girl problems, I don’t know what are.

I gotta say… she’s a pretty horrible person, but holy heck is this book hilarious. Think Regina George from Mean Girls, but in non-character form, plus an even bigger ego, R-rated details of various inappropriate anecdotes, and much more emotional instability. I can’t fully bring myself to believe that this isn’t supposed to be a satirical piece on the phony maelstrom of self-inflicted tribulation in young Hollywood. I mean seriously… there’s a chapter called “I hate my horse.”

Regardless, if you’re in for a quick and funny read, I highly recommend picking up a copy. To learn more about Babe’s depravity, feel free to peruse her twitter account for daily reflections on life. Switching gears 100%, potentially in a subconscious attempt to erase the 250-some pages of nonsense I just read, next on my leisurely reading docket is “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. What you are reading? Any recommendations?

Love you, mean it.

Have you ever read My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler? If not I suggest that!
Two other books I suggest are: Bond Girl by Erin Duffy and Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper by Diablo Cody. Talk about a lol book! I guarantee you'll love Candy Girl!

I have to pick up this book for my sister's for Christmas. I like the following passage and I can relate because I had a girlfriend like this: "It's 5:15. How much weight can I lose by 8:00?". Thanks for the review.
