Upon the recommendation of several trusted beauty sites and my amazing BFF, Ashley Brooke, I decided to try Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter. Rated the #1 lip color in a 2012 year-end Nielson poll, I’ve only ever looked to Revlon for eyeliner. I’ve tried some of their glosses//foundations but was never impressed. Plus, I’m huge gloss fan, and since lipstick typically dries out my lips, I was curious how the “butter” aspect would feel texture-wise. I wasn’t disappointed.

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter, which is essentially anย elixirย between a sheer lipstick and lip balm, provides moisture and shiny color that actually lasts an impressive duration. I’d estimate that I re-apply every 2-3 hours, strictly for the added moisture (I hate dry lips– ultimate pet peeve). Available in 20 gorgeous shades, this lip butter is addicting, fun, and fulfills all of its product allegations. I’ve already purchased 3 shades {005-Sugar Frosting (pictured below), 080-Strawberry Shortcake, and 035-Candy Apple (pictured below)}, and I want about 10 more.

I will say, though, that this is clearly NOT a lipstick. The color isn’t nearly as bold or long-lasting as a lip stain or regular lip stick; however, neither of those formulas provide this amount of hydration with their shades. Also, for added color, I’ve tried applying lip liner, and it works like a charm. The lighter colors (specifically 005- Sugar Frosting) hold their hues well, but the darker Candy Apple (ie red) is more of a red sheer tint than anything else. Still pretty, but would take several applications for a bold, Hollywood-esque red lip. The subtly of the color has its definite perks, though;ย I went to Wet ‘N Wild this past Sunday (finally saw the sun), and I was elated that I could wear this lip butter without looking like a done-up beauty queen.

You can find Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter at any chain drug store. I bought my first tube from Walgreens for $8, then purchased two more from Target or Amazon for $6.50. So basically, look around for the best price, cause it clearly varies based on store preference.ย Just another recommendation for you lovely ladies to try!

Now, here’s some food for thought…

I'll have to see if I can find some. I love the sheerness of Sugar Frosting, but it's not enough color if I'm going for a more done-up look. Let me know if you find any dark/plum colors you like!

Happy Valentine's Day, boo bear ๐Ÿ™‚

After reading Ashley Brooke's blog post about the lip butter, I went out to get some and they were sold out in the shade I wanted!!! It must be good. Not all of us can pull off the candy apple as well as you! ๐Ÿ˜‰ My skin tone is way off.

You will LOVE it. My favorite has to be Sugar Frosting (I know Ash inspired me to buy it, too, so hopefully you'll be able to find that shade soon–I'm obsessed!)It's subtle yet gorgeous and fun.

My skin tone would be off, too, normally, except I just went to Wet N Wild on Sunday and finally got some sun ๐Ÿ™‚ but thank you, lady!

Hey Christa! Crazy! I definitely recommend these lip butters… also MAC Glam and Bobbi Brown. Revlon is just less expensive (and more moisturizing) than regular lipstick. So glad you stopped by! Happy Friday!!!
