Before packing up and leaving Maine, Kyle and I wanted to explore more of Portland, aka Maine’s largest city. It was actually the designated capital when Maine first became a state, but it was switched to Augusta in the 1830s for geographical reasons (fun fact). Since this is hands down the most urbanized city in the entire state, I decided to wear this primarily all black winter outfit to fit in with the fast-paced city folk. To capture the city life– and my all black winter outfit– at their best, we met up with the sweet woman behind the camera of Brittany Rae Photography, and she shot all of the images in today’s post– and there’s more of her to come!
This (primarily) all black winter outfit is actually one of my favorite looks I’ve styled since living in Maine. Lincolnville is the definition of rural, so I haven’t gotten to wear anything along the lines of chic street fashion in quite a while. This black grid long sleeve pocket blouse is light, comfy, and looks great tucked into a skirt or pants, making it a great addition to any girl’s professional wardrobe. It’s a little sheer, so for added warmth, I wore a black long sleeve v-neck underneath, plus a classic tartan blanket scarf which bares a striking resemblance to the Zara blanket scarf that took over the internet a few years ago. I actually have that same scarf somewhere back in Florida, but when I saw an exact look-a-like was available at Shein for $16, I couldn’t turn it down. You can also see this black suede skirt styled in a more preppy (and more Floridian) way here. Head to the bottom for full outfit details!
Shop the Look: Black Grid Shirt: SheIn, $19 | Skirt: SheIn, $20 | Scarf: SheIn, $16 | Tights: DKNY, $16 | Booties: Steve Madden, $90| Bag: Vera Bradley, $80 (currently over 75% off) | Watch: Daniel Wellington, $199 (use code DEBUTANTE15 to take 15% off through 1/30/17) | Earrings: BaubleBar, $36
Have any of y’all ever been to Portland? What were your favorite spots? We’ll most likely be heading back to Maine this summer, so I’d love to get some local recommendations! Anyways, Happy Friday, y’all! Have a fabulous weekend!
I love the shirt. It looks great with the skirt.
Thanks, Sophie! I’ve worn it tucked into jeans, too, and that looks pretty great, too!
I love all black and the black grid adds to it. You look great as you always do. I am going to have to try Shein. Their prices are wonderful.
Thanks so much, Christy! SheIn can be really hit or miss, so just be sure to read the reviews or ask someone who’s purchased an item. Some of their stuff is really incredible, though– especially for the price!
This outfit is so cute, Stephanie! I love how you styled this blanket scarf!

Thanks so much, Katie! It’s funny how the functionality of blanket scarves changes depending on where you’re living… in Florida, they’re purely accessories. In Maine, they’re primarily thermal warmth– and secondarily cute accessories! 🙂
Love how perfectly everything goes together. Gotta have that black grid shirt!
This top is already a closet staple of mine! I swear it goes with everything!
